Renewable Energy

  • We have purchased and will soon be installing a large solar hot water system on our south-facing roof at Rosalie.  This will provide the majority of the hot-water needs for the house.  Because the backup tankless heaters have thermostatic control, which means they only add as much energy as needed to raise the water to the required temperature.  If the solar collectors have already raised the temperature to the required amount, the tankless heaters never turn-on.
  • A large 4 pot solar oven is on the roof, which acts like a slow-cooking crock pot.  We have a book that contains over 100 solar oven recipes and plan to make many delicious solar meals.
  • All electricity that is sourced outside of the house comes from 100% wind energy.
